announcing: we’re the proud new owners of the samuel aframe, palm springs!

April 25, 2018

It feels like the entire internet has been watching Sarah + Rupe Samuel pour blood, sweat + tears into the gorgeous aframe home just outside of Palm Springs, California. Sarah has been sharing the process from start to finish on her blog since she + Rupe first bought it back in 2015, and trust me, they really transformed the place. (When you have a sec, you should read her 30+ posts that beautifully detail the process..)

It feels so beyond real to say… Jayden, Robert + I are the proud new owners!

You’ve heard about Sarah here before.. like when I first collaborated with Sarah Sherman Samuel on this shoot in 2012.. and when we first met Rupe and shot them together for Sarah’s product line in Michigan in 2013.. or when Sarah styled one of the first shoots we did when we moved to LA in 2013, or when Sarah designed the kitchen + bathroom of Light Lab in 2016, or when we collaborated on a set of prints in 2017. I mean, Sarah + Rupe have practically become family, and yet, we’ve really only known we were going to get to add ‘buy the aframe’ to our list of collabs for just over a week.. (and we’ve barely been able to sleep since then out of excitement)!

The first time we visited, I heard myself whisper the words, “Being here actually feels better than the photos make it look…” and as someone whose career is all about making things look perfect, the feeling of a place is really what makes or breaks it all.

And this place. Oh, the feeling.. you just need to experience it, really. The peace. The sky… the energy is really unlike most spaces I’ve experienced. And that’s before you see inside!

The kitchen is decked out in Sarah’s collaboration with Semihandmade. It’s a bit spesh, really!

I don’t even like baths.. but I’m about to! Just look at this beauty!

I mean, look at this laundry room! It’s “we’re not worthy!” levels up in here!

But wait, there’s more. (I know.)

Isn’t the house a bit… neutral… for your taste? I hear you ask.

Well, hardly. It’s so perfect we can barely imagine changing anything. BUT. When Sarah said, “Why don’t we design a few updates together and bring a few colorful pieces into the space?” Guess what we said? (Hint: We said yes.)

So, while we just got the keys and much of the furniture is as-seen in the photos for now, there will be some shifts + updates happening over the next 2 months. (We’re also putting a pool in..! EEP!)

And, no, we aren’t moving. But we will be going there to edit / shoot / write / rest / host as much as we can possibly rationalize, that’s for sure. Be sure to follow us on Instagram at @thesamuelaframe to hear what we’re planning next…

Sarah + Rupe, thank you for loving this little haven and seeing the potential in her long before the days she landed on the cover of Sunset Mag.. we’re honored + grateful that you’re entrusting us with the keys to a piece of your heart, and we can’t wait to continue evolving and growing with you (and Archie + Clover now, too!) and can’t wait to have you back for a visit very soon. xx

All photos by Sarah Sherman Samuel. More by us coming soon!
